Oswego, NY

Hamilton Homes was constructed between 1954 and 1962 as a public housing complex for the residents of the City of Oswego. The 14 acre site featured 27 multi-family buildings containing 186 units of housing. Hamilton Homes provided countless residents with affordable housing for over forty years. As the buildings aged and funding for operations and renovations became scarce, Hamilton Homes management was unable to keep up with the various building, equipment and system failures that occurred.

Fortunately, through the coordinated effort of the Oswego Housing Authority, the City of Oswego and several New York State agencies, Housing Visions has preserved this critically needed affordable housing. Housing Visions Consultants, Inc., a not-for-profit developer and manager with extensive neighborhood revitalization and quality affordable housing expertise has completed the final phase of revitalization know as Oswego Hamilton Homes Phase III.

Progress Made:
The substantial rehabilitation of such a large fully occupied site has been a lengthy process but Housing Visions is pleased to announce the completion of all three phases.

The transformation of Hamilton Homes is a catalyst for revitalization; other neighborhood residents and businesses have taken an interest in the area as the housing has been renewed for another 50 years.

The revitalization is decreasing the number of blighted and inefficient units and increasing the supply of quality affordable housing options available to large families with low & moderate incomes in the City of Oswego.
