Housing Visons Appoints Second President and CEO in Company History
SYRACUSE, NY — Rebecca C. Newman, CPM, has been appointed as President and CEO of Housing Visions. Housing Visions, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based out of Syracuse, NY, is a neighborhood revitalization organization specializing in affordable housing development. Housing Visions is the owner of 1,587 units throughout 15 communities in Upstate New York and Pennsylvania and has a total community investment of more than $340 million.
Newman is succeeding Kenyon Craig, who was one of the original co-founders and has been leading the organization since inception 27 years ago. Craig recommended Newman for the promotion because of her achievements in her previous role which Craig described as “a huge undertaking where she [Newman] has had extraordinary success. [Newman] has established herself as a true leader and her innate abilities make her an outstanding leader for Housing Visions for many years into the future.” Craig will continue to serve on the executive team to allow greater focus on the organization’s strategic planning.
Newman has served Housing Visions for over ten years in various capacities including the last four years as Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer and has 15 years of affordable housing experience. Newman was most recently responsible for a successful restructuring of the organization’s construction division which included an overhaul of staffing, bidding, and management processes. Newman is also credited with establishing Housing Visions as an Accredited Management Organization with the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and extending Housing Visions’ footprint throughout Upstate New York and Pennsylvania.
Newman holds a BA degree in Economics and a BA degree in Public Policy Law from Hobart & William Smith Colleges as well as several industry credentials.
