SYRACUSE, NY – A join project between Housing Visions and an affordable housing agency in Buffalo was one of the more than 30 projects to be awarded a share of $91 million n funding by New York State.
Mass Ave Community Homes will receive #3.5 million in funding from New York State Homes and Community Renewal for the construction and renovation of 46 units along the Massachusetts Avenue Green Corridor in Buffalo.
“With this project, it will bring us into our 9th city in NYS, increasing our portfolio to 1,036 units and total investment to $228 million,” said Housing Visions President Kenyon Craig. “It is quite a milestone, particularly in this highly competitive environment where many developers are not receiving any awards.”
Housing Visions will work with PUSH (People United for Sustainable Housing), a Buffalo-based, not-for-profit agency, and its housing development arm, the Buffalo Neighborhood Stabilization Company (BNSC), to bring the project to fruition.
“Housing Visions is excited to partner with BNSC to develop Mass Ave Community Homes,” said Ben Lockwood, Housing Visions’ Director of Development. “We look forward to participating in the revitalization of Buffalo’s west side.”
The project calls for the construction of 28 new and 18 rehabilitated in 16 total buildings. It is Housing Visions’ second undertaking in Western New York, following the successful opening of Lockport Canal Homes in February.
